Over the past year, I’ve worked on scattered fragments for *Welcome Home 3*, yet the overall results turned out pretty underwhelming. I’ve discarded all of them and am planning a full remake. The recently‑released *Niu Lai* left me utterly disheartened. When low‑brow, shock‑value content becomes the norm, those who genuinely strive for beauty end up as the minority. If shoddily‑made animations can go viral purely through absurd gimmicks, who will still be willing to pour genuine effort into creation in the future? I’ve poured myself into this community before. Back then I believed in quiet, unrewarded dedication — that gold will always shine. But reality kept proving me wrong. Many recent PMVs, including *Carried Home* and *No Worries*, represent countless hours of hard work, yet their reception is nothing short of disheartening. July, which looked like a booming creative peak, was in truth a last flicker before the end, a quiet signal that things are drawing to a close. I often fell into self‑indulgent idealism. I told myself that as long as I remained selfless, pure and idealistic enough, all the absurd realities would just vanish. That a carefree “so what?” would reignite my drive and passion. Reality shattered those illusions completely. As cheap, absurd videos proliferate, audiences increasingly gravitate toward shock value, the grotesque and novelty‑seeking. Entertainment grows ever more superficial. Works as crudely produced as *Niu Lai* gain genuine admiration; content originally meant as satire ends up celebrated for real. The whole space feels increasingly unhinged. Serious, thoughtful works are gradually cast aside, fading into history. Being a PMVer feels almost tragic. Years ago I watched countless high‑quality PMVs go largely unnoticed, and I admired the resolve of their creators. That inspired me to join in, hoping to carry that spirit forward. Now my conviction is wavering — maybe the world no longer needs people like us. That said, I will keep creating. Only without the fire I once had. I press on half‑heartedly, watching the era fade and my ideals crumble. (PS: The final version definitely won’t be as janky as what you’ve seen in the clips. doge)
